The Bushi is a full martial class that removes the Fighter’s early-level flaws and builds maneuvers into the core chassis of the class. This makes the first three levels far more tactically engaging. The Bushi also features an entire Bushido-flavored discipline system that shapes its identity and progression.
The three thematic subclasses include:
Champion Bushido: A crit-focused offensive and athletic build
Strategist Bushido: A martial battlefield commander who supports and boosts the party
Bastion Bushido: A defensive tank who locks down enemies
Each subclass reinforces the Bushi’s identity while offering its own tactical playstyle. Every Bushido path has exclusive maneuvers unique to that discipline. The Bushi gains something meaningful at nearly every level (new maneuvers, features, dice upgrades, or discipline abilities) so you never fall behind caster classes in terms of level progression.
Originally designed for the Far Shore campaign, the class incorporates historical and ethical Bushido principles, with each subclass focused on a specific virtue of the philosophy.
The Bushi retains the familiar feel of a Fighter while delivering a fresh playstyle, offering veteran players something new that fits seamlessly into any 5e campaign.
